Khara bhath

Khara bhath is one of my favourite breakfast recipe. I have tried many versions of it, but this version is my favourite. In this recipe i used vangi bath powder, you can also use garam masala powder.


Ingredients:

Rava/Sooji - 1 cup

Tomato - 1

Green chilli - 2

Ginger - 1/4 tsp ( finely chopped )

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Vangi bhath powder - 1 1/2 tsp

Grated coconut - 1 tbsp ( optional )

Coriander leaves - few

Water - 4 cups

To Temper:

Oil or Ghee - 2 tbsp

Mustard - 1 tsp

Channa dal - 1 tsp

Urad dal - 1 tsp

Cashew - 8

Curry leaves - 8

Method:

Dry roast rava in a pan and keep aside


In the same pan add oil and temper the items given under ' to temper'.

Add finely chopped tomato, green chilli, ginger and saute well


Then add 4 cups of water, turmeric powder and salt


Once the water mixture comes to boil add the rava , stir well and add vangi bath powder


Stir continuously till rava gets cooked ,  add coconut and remove from heat when it reaches upma consistency.


Serve hot with coconut chutney


Note:
         For Cup measurements you can take any container of your choice
