Paal Kanji / Vendhaya Kanji / Milk Porridge

Paal Kanji / Vendhaya Kanji recipe - with detailed stepwise pictures. Paal Kanji is a healthy recipe which is made atleast weekly once in our home. This kanji is good for our health  and it has to be included atleast once in a week. Paal kanji is used to treat digestion problems, heat problems. It is best to treat mouth ulcers and ulcers when coconut milk is added, it is another version of Paal kanji and it is called as Thengai Paal kanji. I'll post the recipe soon. My mom used to make this kanji in an open pot, if you want you can make this in pressure cooker ( check notes for measurements )


Ingredients:

Raw Rice ( i used Ponni puzhungal ) - 3/4 cup
Fenugreek - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Garlic - 10 - 12
Water -  6 cups
Boiled Milk - 1/2 cup

Method:

Heat water in a sauce pan
Once it starts boiling add the ingredients except rice
When the flavours are infused with water add rice
Start to mix with a ladle it will take few mins to get the rice cooked
Continue to stir orelse it will boil and overflow from the pan
Stir continuously until you get the mashing consistency( the rice must be over cooked )
Mash everything and add boiled milk, mix well
Serve hot with any thogayal / pickle

Notes:

  • If you are using pressure cooker then add 3 cups of water to get this consistency
  • Add water according to your rice
