Thakkali Thokku/Tomato Thokku- an easy recipe with stepwise pictures. Thakkali thokku is made often in our house as a sidedish for chapathi. This goes well with chapathi , you can also have this with idli/dosa. This thokku is an easy recipe that can be made in minutes. It is a no-onion no-garlic recipe. It only requires tomato and it is a very tasty recipe.
Thakkali Thokku/Tomato Thokku - recipe with stepwise pictures
Ingredients:
Tomato - 6
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as required
To Temper:
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - a spring
Method:
Take the tomatoes according to your family members
Chop them finely
Temper the items given under 'to temper'
Add the tomatoes and salt
Close it with a lid, the lid should sent the steam out, we usually use idli plate as it perfectly lets some steam and raw smell out and cooks the tomatoes
After few mins water in the toamtoes have come out
when it is 3/4th cooked add the spice powders, mix and close it with a lid till the raw smell of the masala goes
When the oil seperates and the tomatoes are cooked well and soft,remove from heat
Serve hot with Chapathi/idli/dosa

We are 3 members and i took 6 tomatoes, add the tomatoes according to your family members
If you want more thokku add more tomatoes
