Milagu Rasam|Pepper Rasam - full recipe with pictures and video Rasam is a mandatory recipe in all south indian foods. It is an accompaniment to increase digestion after every meal .Usually we drink this rasam instead of soup .Pepper rasam is also served as a soup in some restaurants with mild changes in the recipe .You can make this rasam as one of the ingredients in the Lunch Menu or simply you can make this rasam for lunch with Paruppu thogayal, papad or any other thogayal recipes Do try this recipe and let me know how it turns out for you

Ingredients:
Tomatoes - 2
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Tamarind - small gooseberry size
Water - 2 cups
Hing - 2 pinches
Salt
Coriander leaves - a fistful
To Grind:
Cumin - 1 tsp
Pepper - 2 - 3 tsp
Garlic - 6 - 7
To Temper:
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Methi seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring

Method:
Grind the ingredients given under 'To Grind'
Heat a kadai and temper the items given under 'To Temper'
Now add the ground rasam powder and saute well
Add 2 chopped tomatoes and cook well for 4 - 5 minutes, followed by turmeric powder
Extract tamarind pulp by adding 2 cups water and add it to the kadai
Add salt and hing
Once the rasam starts to boil add 1/4 cup water and switch off the flame
