Aval Kesari - Full recipe with stepwise pictures and video. Aval Kesari is one of the easiest sweet recope. Usually my mom makes this in fridays for Neivedhyam and also in festival days like Krishna ayanthi, Vinayagar Chathurthi and Pongal. This is very tastier and easier to make. Even beginners can make this sweet easily. Use the exact measurements i used here, you can double the measurement if you want more keasri. Try this recipe and let me know the results. Ingredients:
Aval/Poha - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 3 tbsp
Water - 3/4 cup
Cardamom - 3
Cashewnut - 5 -6
RAisins - 10
Ghee - 2 tsp
Method:
With Stepwise Pictures:
Heat 2 tsp ghee in a pan
Add the cashews and fry
Add the raisins and keep frying
Once the cashews and raisins have fried well remove from flame
In the same pan add 1/2 cup poha and fry well for 2 - 3 minutes without changing the colour
After 2 minutes add 3/4 cup water
Mix well, cover and cook till the water absorbs
Stir in between to avoid sticking to the bottom
After 5 - 6 minutes the poha has cooked softly
Mix once and add 3 tbsp sugar
Mix well
The sugar starts to melt and the mixture will be watery, don't panic the water will be absorbed quickly
Now add ghee fried cashews , raisins and crushed cardamoms to the mixture
After 2- 3 minutes the mixture starts to leave the pan
Remove from flame and serve hot
