Coconut chutney

Coconut chutney is prepared often in our households, because its not only tasty but also an easiest one. It is less time consuming. One can make this in no time. But the problem is the right quantity. Sometimes the coconut exceeds or the fried gram dal. The right quantity is 1 part of coconut for 1/2 part of fried gram dal. Green chillies can be added according to your taste buds.


Ingredients:

To Grind:
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Fried gram dal/ pottukadalai - 2 1/2 tbsp
Green chillies - 4
Garlic - 1 pod
Asafoetida - 1/8 tsp

To Temper:
Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp

Method:

Grind the items given under 'to grind' and transfer to a bowl. 


Temper the items given under 'to temper' and add it to the chutney


Serve with idlis/dosas

Note:

Tempering in coconut oil gives an extra flavour, you can add any other oil according to your choice

If you want your chutney to be watery, you can add water to it but adjust the salt level
