Onion Pakoda

Its raining today, so i want to make a snack to beat this cold weather and also a snack to finish quickly without spending a lot of time in the kitchen. That's because i don't want to waste the rainy evening. So me and my mom decided to make Onion Pakoda, a simple yet a tasty snack.

Onion Pakoda or Pakora recipe is a simple snack , can be made easily in no time. When there are sudden guests at home it is a perfect snack to prepare and it is a good combo for evening tea/coffee. And for rainy day snack, wow! we love it. One cannot understand until they have this at a rainy day. Do try this on your tea time, you will be amazed with its taste.

Generally Onion Pakodas are made with gram flour, rice flour and other spice powders, but here i'm trying another method. As i already said this is  a lazy snack recipe, so instead of using flours and spice powders , i use "Bajji Bonda Mix" Powder. I'm using AACHI bajji bonda mix for preparing this pakoda. It can be served with sauces or chutneys.

Ingredients:

Onion - 4 ( small to medium size )
Green chilli - 1 big
Coriander leaves - 4 stems
Curry leaves - 7
Salt - as required
Bajji Bonda Mix Powder - 3/4 - 1 cup
Water - as required

Method:

Slice the onions as thinly, finely chop the green chillies, coriander and curry leaves.

Transfer to a bowl , add salt and mix well with your hands for 5 mins ( this tends to extract the juice from the onion and makes the fritters even crispier )

Keep it aside for 5 - 10 mins

After 10 mins take the mixture, by this time the onion will have extracted its juices, now add flour little by little and mix well with your hands in the onion mixture

If the mixture is very tight and thick, add 2-3 tbsps water and mix well until you get the pakoda consistency ( it should not be thick or thin, the batter should stick with the onion mixture in a light  texture )

Heat oil and drop in pakoda shapes or you can drop with a spoon

Serve hot with tea/coffee
