Chai Masala Powder/Tea Masala Powder - full recipe with stepwise pictures. Whenever we make masala chai we use two methods. One is adding the whole spices to the water , boiling along with tea leaves and then making the tea, i already posted this method here. Another one method is grinding the chai masala powder and using it when the tea is boiling, soon i'll post the second method of tea making. For both the chais the masalas will slightly differ. We add and reduce some ingredients in both these chai's. But making the tea using chai masala powder is easy. The masala i've used here is what we make in our home, if you want you can add/omit the ingredients as per your wish.

Chai Masala Powder/Tea Masala Powder - Recipe with Stepwise Pictures


Ingredients:

Chukku/Dry ginger - a small piece
Pepper - 1/4 tsp
Dhaniya/ Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cardamom - 12 - 14 pods
Cloves - 10
Cinnamon - a small piece

Method:

  1. Keep this ingredients under sunlight for 15-20 mins
  2. Transfer the ingredients to a blender and grind to a fine to coarse powder
  3. It will make upto 3 tbsps of chai masala, keep this in a small airtight container. Adding few pinches to the tea itself gives a good flavour to the tea.


With Stepwise Pictures:

Keep this ingredients under sunlight for 15-20 mins

Note:

  • Always prepare small amounts of chai masala
  • For three of us we use only 2 pinches, You can add according to your family members.
