Pidi Kozhukattai|Sweet Kozhukattai Recipe - Full recipe with Stepwise Pictures and Video. Kozhukattais are usually made in our home during chathurthi or any other festivals and even rarely as a snack. It can be made mainly on Ganesh Chathurthi. Though there are a vast number of variueties are there, still this pidi kozhukattai is the traditional one and no one can beat the taste of this kozhukattai. As Ganesh Chathurthi is nearing, this recipe is a must try. For a long time this recipe was in my to do list and now it is live on my blog.

Ingredients:

Kozhukattai Flour/Rice Flour - 500 gms
Jaggery - 250 gms
Grated Coconut - 1 cup
Salt - a pinch
Crushed Cardamom - 3
Ghee - 1/2 tsp
Water for Jaggery Syrup -1/4 cup

Method:

  1. Sieve the flour in a pan
  2. extract Jaggery Water from the jaggery, the consistency should be like water
  3. Grate Coconut from 1 coconut
  4. Add flour , grated coconut, cardamom and ghee
  5. Add the required jaggery water little by little
  6. Mix well and add more syrup if required
  7. Once you get kozhukattai consistency, start making it
  8. Place the kozhukattais in the steaming pan
  9. Steam cook for 15 minutes
  10. Soft sweet and tasty pidi kozhukattai is ready

Sieve the flour in a pan


extract Jaggery Water from the jaggery, the consistency should be like water


Grate Coconut from 1 coconut


Add flour , grated coconut, cardamom and ghee


Add the required jaggery water little by little


Mix well and add more syrup if required


Add jaggery water littlke by little to get the correct consistency


Once you get kozhukattai consistency, start making it


Place the kozhukattais in the steaming pan


Steam cook for 15 minutes
Soft sweet and tasty pidi kozhukattai is ready
