Crispy Corn - full recipe with stepwise pictures and video. We generally use sweet corn to make soups or street style corns like butter sweet corn or pepper flavoured corns. But this recipe is very unusual one. Simply Boiled sweet corns are my favourite. But this time when i'm boiling the sweet corn, i thought why don't make a deep fried snack with those corn. Immediately i tried this recipe, it came out really well. It was crispy outside, soft and sweet inside. I made this snack for tea time, it goes well with the tea. Ingredients:
Sweet corn - 1 cup
Besan/Gram flour - 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 2 pinches
Salt
Oil - to deep fry
To grind:
Red chillies - 3
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Hing - 2 pinches
Garlic - 5
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Method:
Add the ingredients given under 'to grind' in a blender
Grind coarsely
Add 1 cup seperated sweet corns in an idli plate or any steamer
Steam for 5 - 10 minutes
Keep aside the steamed sweet corns
Add 1 cup boiled corn in a mixing bowl
Add ground mixture
Add turmeric powder and pepper powder
Add required salt
Add 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup besan
Mix everything well
Add 2 - 3 tbsp water and mix till the besan coats well with the corn
Take small amounts of corn mixtureand deep fry in hot oil
Once it turns golden to brown color remove from flame
Serve hot witn tea
